Special Programs
Emergency Response Plan
The bitter cold spell in February 2023 emphasized the need to shelter those sleeping outside during a deep freeze event or blizzard conditions, as we sheltered 19 individuals over 2 nights. That event encouraged WACH to develop an Emergency Response Plan to be prepared with specific procedures and guidelines to implement the Plan to keep the unsheltered safe and warm during extreme winter weather events.
So far this winter (December 2024 and January 2025), Turning Point supported 55 beds over five nights for unsheltered people at a local hotel due to extreme cold, providing water and food to each person. The need is great. If you would like to donate to this program, call the office at 508-291-3562, the mobile line at 508-728-5384, contact us through the website, or email [email protected].
Homeless Person’s Memorial Service
December 17, 6:00 pm
CHURCH OF THE GOOD SHEPHERD
74 High Street, Wareham
WACH/Turning Point’s fourth annual Homeless Person's Memorial Service is scheduled for Wednesday, December 17th beginning at 6pm. The service will again be held at the Church of the Good Shepherd, 74 High Street, Wareham.
This service is to honor and remember those unsheltered brothers and sisters that have died during the past year. Wareham area clergy members have been invited and will participate in the memorial service.
The public is cordially invited and are encouraged to attend. To the best of our knowledge, no Wareham-based homeless individual has passed this year, which is certainly good news. The service will remember those who have passed in prior years.

Roadmap to Financial Stability
Recognizing that financial literacy is a critical building block toward ensuring financial stability, Turning Point is offering a “Financial Fundamentals” program to educate Turning Point clients and others on budgeting, managing debt effectively, internet security, and more as one steppingstone to gaining financial stability. We received a grant to offer free courses on financial basics by creating an in-house training and education program for our clients and others.
Partnering with a community banking partner we are offering “Lunch & Learn” sessions on financial fundamentals. These classes will give our clients the tools and support they need to get back on track and move past the crises that brought them to Turning Point. It is our hope it will pave the way towards lasting financial stability for themselves and their families.
If you are interested in participating in this program, please call the Turning Point office at 508-291-3562 or email your information to [email protected]. The program is free of charge, but registration is requested.

Holiday Magic
The Holiday Magic community outreach program brings the community together to support the neediest families in our communities by providing gifts, toys and clothing for over 460 children each year to make the holidays bright. Families fill out “Wish Lists” for their children online and sponsors adopt a child or family. This program runs from November to December each year.
